stable TOUR: Sir mark prescott (Heath House, Newmarket)
For many guests on our past tours, the highlight of their visit to Newmarket has been meeting the remarkable Sir Mark Prescott. Training out the historic Heath House stables at the base of Warren Hill, Sir Mark is well known as one of the racing world's great raconteurs. With his training career now spanning more than 50 years, Sir Mark has prepared over 2000 winners.
Tour: national horse racing museum (newmarket)
Located in the heart of horse country at Newmarket, the National Horse Racing Museum is a must see for any racing enthusiast who visits the UK. The museum features 5 different galleries, whilst the energetic can try their riding skills on the horse simulator. The Ontrack group will take in a visit to the National Horse Racing Museum during our stay in Newmarket.
STUD TOUR: cheveley park stud (Newmarket)
Cheveley Park dates back to a remarkable time stamp of 1341, and has been owned by several monarchs including King Athelstan, King Canute, Edward the Confessor, William the Conqueror, Edward I and Edward II. Now owned by the Thompson family, Cheveley comprises of just under 1000 acres of the finest country in the area.
Stud Tour: bansteAd manor (newmarket)
Banstead Manor is the Newmarket base of world racing and breeding powerhouse Juddmonte, formed by the late Prince Khalid bin Abdullah. The property is currently home to Frankel, who was bred and raced by Juddmonte before retiring to stud. Juddmonte has produced a remarkable 129 homebred individual Group 1 winners, who have won an astonishing 246 Group 1 races.
Stud Tour: dalham hall (newmarket)
Dalham Hall is the Newmarket base for the Godolphin/Darley stallion operation which is owned by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. His highness acquired the farm in 1981. The Dalham estate dates back to 1050 and currently comprises 3,300 acres in the township of Dalham, nearby to Newmarket.
Tour: Tattersall's Sale Complex (Newmarket)
Tattersalls is the major Thoroughbred auction house in the UK, with its base in the centre of Newmarket at Park Paddocks. Tattersall's history dates back to 1766 at Hyde Park Corner in London, established by Richard Tattersall. The firm moved to its current location in 1958.
TOUR: Jockey Club ESTATES TRAINING FACILITIES & Racetracks (Newmarket)
Horses have been trained at Newmarket for over 350 years. The Jockey Club Estates spans over 2,500 acres in Newmarket, and is home to around 80 racehorse trainers and 3,000 racehorses at its peak. There are two racecourses within the estate, the 'Rowley Mile' course and the July course.
Stable Tour: MARCO BOTTI STABLES (Newmarket)
Marco Botti is an Italian born trainer who operates from Newmarket at his Prestige Place stables. Marco is the son of an Italian racehorse trainer, and prior to setting out on his own worked in Newmarket for Godolphin, Luca Cumani and Ed Dunlop. Marco has established an enviable record as a travelling trainer having won international Group 1 races in France, Canada, USA and Hong Kong, whilst also recording placings at the top level in Australia in both the Melbourne and Caulfield Cups.
LUNCH THREE BLACKBIRDS, WOODDITTON (newmarket)
The Three Blackbirds Pub is a hsitory filled tavern in Woodditton. William the Conqueror’s record of the land he acquired at the Battle of Hastings includes Wood Ditton, as it was originally known, although much of the history in the village takes life from the 17th Century. The land centered by the pub produced 1953 Derby winner Pinza.
LUNCH "Jockey club rooms" (newmarket)
The Jockey Club Rooms have been at the heart of British horse racing for over 250 years. As a private members club, few people have stepped inside and seen the magnificent interiors, which house an unparalleled collection of British racing memorabilia. The Ontrack group will enjoy a three course meal and beverages. The group will be joined by prominent trainers, jockeys, owners and breeders and bloodstock agents.
DINNER: CAMBRIDGE ROOM, Bedford Lodge (Newmarket)
Enjoy private dining in a two course meal and beverage package in the Cambridge Room at Bedford Lodge. This is on our final night in Newmarket, before we depart to London the following day. An ideal chance to recap what will be a memorable stay in "horse heaven".
HIGH TEA: THE GORING HOTEL (London)
The Goring is one of the last family owned luxury hotels in London and is nearby to Buckingham Palace. Built in 1910, The Goring was one of the favourite destinations for the late Queen Mother, whilst Kate Middleton chose to stay at the Goring prior her 2011 marriage to Prince William. The group will enjoy a special ‘High Tea’ at this charming hotel.
